Our Story

A Chance Encounter Sparks a Coaching Journey 

It was a pivotal September day in 2021. Robyn, nervous but eager, logged onto a Zoom call for her first official coaching session as part of American University's Leadership Coaching for Organizational Performance (LCOP) program. Little did she know this call would mark a turning point in her life. On the other side of the screen was Elle, a successful coach and LCOP alumna, who had volunteered to be coached by new trainees with the hope of finding collaborators for her burgeoning coaching business, Interlace Solutions. 

Their virtual meeting was an instant success. Elle was struck by Robyn's empathy and natural coaching instincts, while Robyn was drawn to Elle's positive energy, humor, and ambitious vision for the coaching profession. As the saying goes, it was the beginning of a beautiful partnership. 

Mentorship and Collaboration Converge 

Over the next few years, their collaboration blossomed. Robyn took on career, resume, and executive coaching clients under Elle's guidance at Interlace. Elle, in turn, became Robyn's mentor, supporting her through a major life change: leaving her government job, relocating to San Francisco to pursue a career in tech, and strengthening her bond with her nieces in LA. 

During one of their regular catch-up calls, a seemingly casual question from Elle – "how do you feel about group coaching?" – sent ripples that would eventually form a wave of change. 

Identifying a Gap in the Workplace 

The question sparked a shared realization: a critical gap existed in the professional landscape. Recent graduates often entered the workforce feeling lost, unsure of professional norms, struggling to contribute their strengths, and yearning for connection with their more experienced colleagues. While training focused on equipping managers to bridge this gap, little existed to empower new employees to find their way and to thrive in their new environment by harnessing empathy to build relationships. 

With a newfound purpose, Robyn and Elle began brainstorming. They started compiling lists, covering everything from navigating constructive feedback to establishing boundaries and mastering workplace etiquette – from the meaning of BCC to the responsible use of "reply all" and the cardinal sin of taking your laptop into the bathroom during a video call (pants optional, apparently). 

From Brainstorming to Building Converge 

The following months were a whirlwind of focused planning and lighthearted camaraderie. They tackled the tedious tasks – contracts (ugh) – and the exciting ones – choosing the perfect company name (Converge!). Their journey was fueled by laughter, drinks, snacks, long walks, hilarious online dating profile reviews, and long sidesaddle laptop sessions amidst the vibrant San Francisco scene.  

With the launch of Converge, we offer plug-and-play training solutions to help organizations support and retain early career talent and to help new entrants to the workforce find success. Our mission is to help professionals Converge.
